Mons en Provence

The first human construction on what was to become the site of the present day village, dates from approximately 49BC when the Romans captured the source of the Siagnole river in order to supply the town of Frejus (Forum Julii) with water. This system is still in use today and can clearly be seen below the village.

The present day village was developed in the 11 th century. Perched at an altitude of 814 metres, it is a charming, picturesque and un-commercialised Provencale village.

Perfect for a relaxing holiday away from the busy coast, yet within easy reach of all the facilities you might require.

Within the village there are 4 restaurants, a small hotel, bar/tabac, post office, small grocery shop, bakery and a Provencale gift shop. Beside the ‘Chateau' is a small information centre.

Just outside the village are 2 excellent municipal tennis courts and a further court is available near the villa.

There is excellent walking in the area, and a horse riding centre near the village for promenades in the countryside. Nearby Lac St. Cassien offers fishing, fresh-water swimming and you can hire pedalos and windsurfers.

The larger, ancient villages of Fayence, Callian, Montauroux and Seillans are all 20 mins drive and offer a larger range of shops, restaurants and supermarkets. > Fête de la Transhumance à Montauroux sur : www.transhumance-tradition.com

The ‘Route Napoleon' is a 20 min. drive and heads into the Haut Alpes de Provence, Castellaine, the Gorges de Verdon and Lac St. Croix.

The nearest beaches are at Cannes and St. Raphael. The A8 autoroute gives easy access to Cannes, Nice, Monaco etc. Nice International airport is a 70 min drive.
